I am Senior Lecturer at CPHT Bristol and CPHT Cardiff. As well as being in private practice as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Supervisor I am also Deputy Director of CPHT and a Trustee of the Association of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH). Born in Cheltenham, I moved to Bristol when I was 8 and then to Hong Kong when I was 13. Educated at King George V school, I was very keen in sports, in particular sailing (Ladies Colonies Enterprise Champion) and hockey, Captain of the Hong Kong Combined School Hockey Team and in the touring Hong Kong Ladies hockey team, touring and playing in South East Asian Hockey Tournaments. In recent years I’ve play for the Hong Kong Connections team in the Golden Oldies World Hockey Festival in Adelaide and Edinburgh.
In 1979 we returned to England. I worked in various jobs in Southampton, Bristol and London. I got married, had two children, and then moved back to Bristol, where I worked with BT. I did various clerical/administrative and secretarial/PA roles whilst the children were young. I was promoted into Management with Strategic Procurement. Initially working with our European mobile joint ventures which involved quite a bit of travelling and organising conferences at various locations in Europe. I then moved to the Radio Group looking after contracts for for the Emergency services.
In 2002, I started suffering from ME and it was during long term sick leave that I decided on a career change, something that involved working with and helping people. Having experienced hypnotherapy and realising the benefits from the sessions I decided to become a Hypnotherapist. I was attracted to CPHT because of the ongoing support and a sense of community. This was important to me as I recovered from ME. I enrolled on the school’s 3rd Intake – early days! – and graduated in 2004. During my training I had started working as Saturday morning receptionist at the Clifton Practice, and this role I continued when I began practising Hypnotherapy.
As the CPHT courses developed so did my involvement with them, and today my time is divided between teaching, supervising, giving professional support to CPHT student/practitioners, coordinating the CPD and Supervision programmes, managing accreditation… whilst running my own practice as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist……..and also enjoying time with my grandchildren.
I enjoy helping people to make positive changes towards their goals, whether it be clients or students, friends or colleagues. But mostly I enjoy helping people to see that life should be fun.
I gained my DHP in hypnotherapy at the Clifton Practice in 2004 and then went on to attain an HPD and CBT(Hyp) before successfully training as a solution focused Supervisor in 2011. I have a specialist interest in the field of hypnosis & suggestion and as well as running my full time practice I also lecture to students at The Clifton Hypnotherapy Training School on the application of hypnosis in a clinical setting.
Due to my further studies in this area I have also researched the fascinating subject of Past Life Regression (a topic that always creates lively debate!) and as a result of this interest I have recently completed a diploma in Parapsychology.
I am a Member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and I am registered by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I also have professional insurance and a current Enhanced DBS certificate.

After seeing the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy I trained at CPHT Bristol in 2010. Seeing the positive changes in my clients helped to build my confidence and being as self-employed Hypnotherapist meant I had the flexibility of spending time with my children and build up my practice.
Having had a background in business and administration I was invited to join the CPHT Team. I now enjoy organising and assisting with the CPHT Bristol and Cardiff Training Courses.
